In 2011 Kerman held its first Ameican Cancer Society
Relay For Life event at the Kerman
High School
stadium. The main objective of the Relay is to
raise money for cancer research and cancer patients. It also spreads
cancer awareness, celebrates the lives of survivors, remember
sthose who lost their lives to cancer, and unites a community. It has
become an anual event for Kerman. What is the Relay For Life like: - Organized, overnight community fundraising walk - Teams of people camp out around a track - Members of each team take turns walking around the track - Food, games and activities provide entertainment and build camaraderie - Family-friendly environment for the entire community The fight against cancer is something dear to my heart. In 2008, my then eleven year old son, Jacob, was diagnosed with cancer. Because of the research done to fight this disease he survived and has since been cancer free. To learn more about his story visit Jacob's Journey. For my family the Kerman Relay For Life is an opportunity to honor other cancer survivors and remember those we've lost. As we walk around the high school's track we see many friends who are there for similar reasons. We talk, we share, and it builds a tremendous comradery -- all the while raising funds to fight this terrible disease. Come join us next Spring and be part of the cure. -Scott Toste
