The Vinland Elementary School used to be located near the intersection of Shaw and Madera avenues, near Kerman, California. It was constructed in Western Stick architectural style. The Vinland District was created in 1904, merged with the Sun-Empire Union District in 1952, which later became part of the Kerman Unified School District. The building is no longer in existence. |

The campus was later moved a half-mile west, facing Modoc Avenue, where the Sun-Empire Elementary School was eventually located. The Dakota District was created in 1910, and merged with several other schools to form the Sun-Empire Union District in 1952, which in turn was later merged with the Kerman Unified School District. |
